An Allen County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for having sexual contact with two young girls.
58-year-old James Spears got the sentence on five charges of gross sexual imposition. Spears was indicted on 10 counts, but as part of a plea deal, five of them were dropped. The victims were five and eleven years old at the time the offenses started. In a letter to the judge, the father of the victims says he hopes that Spears dies in prison for what he did to his girls.
"I am very heartbroken for what I done to those little girls," says Spears. "There is nothing that I can ever do to repay what I had done to those children. But like my defender said there is no excuse for what I did. But I did have it happen to me also in my lifetime mostly by one person. It's a very hard thing to overcome, it's a very hard thing to accept."
Spears was also classified as a Tier II sex offender.
