One Man Found Dead Inside Car at Speedway on Harding Highway

LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The man found dead in a car at a gas station earlier this week, died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the Allen County Sheriff's Office, the death of 21-year-old Pedro Varrga of Louisville, Kentucky has been ruled accidental after the autopsy showed it was carbon monoxide. Investigators examined his car and found that there was an excessive amount of carbon monoxide leaking into the passenger compartment. On September 19th, they believe Varrga stopped at the Speedway off of Harding Highway to rest and passed away in his car. His next of kin was notified following the autopsy results.

September 22, 2023 Update from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office: The deceased person has been positively identified as Pedro Varrga. Date of Birth 4-5-2002 of Louisville, Ky. The cause of death has been determined to be accidental death by carbon monoxide poisoning. The Allen County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau has examined Mr Varrga's vehicle and it appears an excessive amount of carbon monoxide was leaking into the passenger compartment during the inspection. It is believed Mr. Varrga stopped at the location he was found to rest while traveling through the area. Next of kin has been notified of the coroner's findings.
