LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's a place where your donated items can help a family afford the American dream, a home of their own.

The Lima Kiwanis Club learned more about the purpose of the Lima Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Tuesday, as the donations and procurement supervisor explained how they get donations and then sell them at a reasonable price to provide funding for 0% interest loans for families who qualify for a Habitat home.

"ReStore is the financing arm for the local Habitat for Humanity. We actually generate the income to build the houses for folks that are living in a substandard area and may not be able to purchase a home using conventional financing through the bank," explained Rick Kabara, donations and procurement supervisor at ReStore.

They accept a variety of items and ask that they are smoke-free, pet-free, and gently used or new. They do have free pick-up available by calling the ReStore. They will also have a shop local pop-up store with items for sale at the Lima Noon Optimists' annual home show this weekend.
