ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A new fixture on the Allen County Fairgrounds this year is the Nutrien Plaza Stage right behind the grandstand.
Funded by Nutrien of Lima and Nutrien Ag Solutions, the new concrete stage has been in the works for a while. Construction on the stage started back in July and finished up just in time for the beginning of the fair. It replaces the old wood stage that was set up in that area and fair officials say that not only does the new stage look nice, but it also gives the acts plenty of room to put on their shows.
"It really spruces up our plaza area that we have and it also gives our entertainment that we have up there an opportunity to really perform to their greatest ability, to feel comfortable up there, and have a lot of space to move around," said Troy Elwer, fair promotions & operations manager. "All of these events that go on on this particular stage are free, so as the public comes in, they can pop by. It’s just aesthetically pleasing to look at."
