ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Lima man was sent to prison for 17 years for a fatal shooting in 2022.

Takal Austin sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to 2022 fatal shooting

20-year-old Takal Austin pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence last week.

But during sentencing, family members of the victim, 22-year-old Koby Bryant, said they would have liked to have seen Austin face a jury on those charges.

On December 29th, 2022, Lima officers found Bryant dead with multiple gunshot wounds at a home in the 600 block of East 4th Street. Through their investigation, detectives identified Austin as the shooter.

The judge also ordered Austin to pay $7,000 to Bryant's father for funeral costs.
