LIMA, OH (WLIO) - As the Halloween weekend approaches, the Salvation Army is already thinking about the Christmas season.
They've opened applications for the "Christmas Angels program," which closes on November 15th. Supporters were out shopping today at Ollie's to buy toys for the "Toys for Tots" program. Ollie's is just one of the many businesses that have contributed to this cause, making sure every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning.
"We get a good donation from Ollie's, and so what we're doing is coming out and supporting our local store. We're going to spend that donation here and purchase a little extra. So, it's going to kick off our Christmas Season for the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots and all that we do with the community," said Paul Downing, Lima Salvation Army operations coordinator.
Local businesses will start collecting toys for the Salvation Army's annual Christmas toy drive on Wednesday, November 1st, and everyone is invited to help out.
