Grand Lake St. Marys will be receiving new dredge equipment thanks to a grant from the state.
A total of $83,395 will be given to the Department of Natural Resources to replace dredge equipment that has been in operation for the past 21 years.
The funds will be used to specifically replace major functions that include electrical, hydraulic, and computer hardware.
The upgrade is anticipated to improve water quality by removing phosphorus that has built up in the sediments on the bottom of the lake, in turn addressing the continued program that the lake faces with algae blooms.
